Department of Psychology

The department of Psychology was established in 1955. The department offers an undergraduate programme. It is offered in both Gujarati and in English in all the three years. The department also offers a UGC recognized certificate course in Counselling.

The department has a total of 307 students inclusive of major and minor subjects. It admits 69 students in the Gujarati medium and 74 in English medium.

The main library has a good collection of books in Gujarati and in English. It has 2924 books. The library also subscribes to 2 journals. The department has a well-equipped laboratory, which comprises electronic instruments, manually operating instruments, etc. for psychological tests related to the syllabus. The department has invested in models and charts. We also have cassettes and VCDs.
The department also has a fully functioning library to meet the requirement of the COP students and faculty. It includes, 35 books in Gujarati as well as in English. It also has videocassettes. COP also has invested in AV teaching aids such as handy cam, cassettes and DVD player.

The faculty use documentaries and movies to assist in teaching. Role-plays, group discussions, field trips and assignments are other innovations tried by the department. The department also organizes presentation by students, exercises related to emotional competence and workshops to impart knowledge.

The department has 6 publications in national journals and 10 presentations.
