Department of Gujarati-Hindi
The department of Gujarati–Hindi was established in 1955. A large number of our students come from the dispossessed classes, namely, SC, ST and other backward Classes (OBC). The department offers an undergraduate programme in Gujarati and in Hindi.
The main library has a good collection. It has 8051 books related to Gujarati and 3902 books for Hindi. It also has 12 journals pertaining to the subject.
The department has many projects and publications; 10 book reviews of which 6 are national and 4 are international, two contributions to books and 13 publications in various magazines and journals at national level and 2 at international level, and one presentation.
Keep up the work of equipping students coming from the dispossessed groups to find jobs and settle in life. With this in mind, the department has introduced a certificate course in Journalism, a Career Oriented Programme. The COP is in Gujarati so that it specifically helps students from dispossessed groups.
